In 2007 we created the movement #BEBRAVEMIXGRAPPA: a philosophy with which we have involved mixologists from all over the world to discover the versatility of Grappa Nonino in cocktails, true liquid celebrations of Italian excellence and of our culture.
Today we are telling you how one of the most talented Italian bartenders, Edoardo Nono, has interpreted the “Nonino Spirit”.
Edoardo Nono, a key figure in Italian mixology, interpreted the #BEBRAVEMIXGRAPPA movement by highlighting a fundamental characteristic: promoting sustainability. Grappa is in fact one of the most sustainable existing spirits: it is born from the reuse of the leftovers from winemaking, pomace, making the Italian distillate a true hymn to no Waste.
Edoardo has built the essence of his drinks precisely on the fil rouge of sustainability. He has chosen to give new life to some of the most frequent raw materials that remain behind the bar counter. Here then, citrus peels and exhausted almonds become precious ingredients, becoming delicious no Waste preparations: cocktails with Grappa Nonino become a delicious way to do good for the planet.

Try mixing Nonino Grappa in your cocktails or let yourself be surprised by those who already interpret this tradition in an innovative way. And if the idea of mixing Grappa scares you, follow Edoardo’s advice and use it as if it were Rum. In fact, Grappa and traditional Rum, from molasses, even if they are expressions of two geographically distant cultures, have many similarities. Just like Grappa, traditional Rum is also a not waste distillate created to use a by-product of sugar cane, molasses. Anyway they don’t just have a virtuous soul in common, but also the important presence of esters that give them great complexity and aromatic richness. So choose to create cocktails that are simple in construction, but capable of putting Grappa Nonino at the center of the scene.
