Nonino Grappa wins the duel with Cognac!
Grappa Nonino Gran Riserva Cru Monovitigno® Schioppettino Aged 20 Years wins the Grappa – Cognac challenge and takes first place in Falstaff’s “Best of Grappa” ranking, obtaining a score higher than even Rémy Martin XO, one of the most famous expressions of cognac, thus confirming itself as the maximum expression of Italian quality in the world of excellent spirits even in the challenge with the great French spirits.
Grappa or Cognac? is the challenge launched by Falstaff, one of the most authoritative international magazines dedicated to the world of wine, gastronomy, and spirits. In its September issue, it compares two great expressions of European distilling culture: Italian Grappa and French Cognac. Grappa Nonino Gran Riserva Cru Monovitigno® Schioppettino Aged 20 Years earned 98 points out of 100, taking first place in the Best of Grappa ranking.
Falstaff describes our Gran Riserva as: “A refined combination of complexity, structure, elegance, and purity. A top-class distillate.”
But this recognition tells something that goes beyond a single bottle.
In the same article, Falstaff recalls our family’s role in promoting Grappa, recounting the revolution begun in 1973 by our parents Giannola and Benito Nonino with the creation of the first Grappa Monovitigno®.
And it also underlines the role of Nonino women in distillation among those who have contributed significantly to the success of Grappa throughout the world.
We are proud of this further recognition of our Ancient Art of distillation, handed down from father to daughter for over a century, and of the continuous pursuit of excellence that has guided the Nonino family for generations.

BEST OF GRAPPA – Grappa Nonino Gran Riserva Cru Monovitigno® Schioppettino Aged 20 Years
A very rare Grappa obtained from Schioppettino, an ancient native Friulian vine variety saved thanks to the Nonino Risit d’ Aur Prize, distilled 100% using the Traditional Method in our copper batch steam stills and aged naturally for 20 years under seal and supervision by the Customs and Monopoly Agency, in the small oak Sherry Cask n. 2233 from Jerez de la Frontera.
