Thank you Maestro

We greet Maestro Josè Antonio Abreu, the deviser of the project “El Sistema” created in 1974 in Venezuela. In 1999 the “Manos Blancas” chorus moved its first steps, thanks to the teachers Naibeth Garcia and Johnny Gomez who had the idea of applying Maestro Abreu’s “El Sistema” method for children suffering of cognitive sensory deficit who interpret music with their language, interacting and integrating with orchestras and choruses of any kind and level. Giannola Nonino in 2010 accepted Claudio Abbado’s invitation to bring the Chorus to Italy and, in his honor, the “Chorus Manos Blancas” project is awarded the Nonino Prize Risit d’Aur (Gold vine shoot). In the same year, Giannola, with the support of the Nonino Distillatori, establishes the “Coro Manos Blancas del Friuli” the first outside Venezuela, with the indispensable involvement of the teachers Paola Garofalo, Rosanna Danelon and Claudia Bortolussi. “Their song with signs is joy and care, it is the right to express themselves, it is the chance of taking part in other people’s lives”.
