Vinitaly 2013 – Nonino Distillates and Toscano cigars: a perfect union.

On Sunday 7th April 2013 at 14:00 at the stand Fumoir Club Friends of the Toscano there was a guided tasting of Nonino Distillates coupled with the Toscano cigar, very original, “lightened” by soft tastes, suitable at any time. Its composition is due, as the legend says, to the writer Mario Soldati; intense and rich of a sweet fragrance that shows the origin of the Kentucky used, grown in the area of Benevento, which is ripened and seasoned for about six months.

The sequence of the Nonino Distillates chosen to create the perfect harmony of the coupling was very interesting.

For the starting puffs, the ones that follow the lighting in which the organoleptic intensity of the cigar is moderate, the ideal Distillate is ÙE® Nonino Monovitigni® Uvabianca®, the Grape Distillate born from the harmonious union of ÙE® Monovitigno Ribolla, Malvasia and Moscato, whose aromatic softness helps giving freshness to the palate, in this way stressing the taste of the cigar.

For the following puffs, at about half smoking, Grappa Nonino Riserva Vendemmia di Annata®, dated and aged over two years in Limousin and ex-Sherry barriques, proved perfect; it has a natural amber color, elegant, with a scent of vanilla, pastry and chocolate.

Like for all Grappa and ÙE® Nonino aging takes place naturally, without the addition of favors and/or caramel.

For the final puffs, when the richness of this cigar reaches its top, the choice was Grappa Riserva Nonino AnticaCuvèe®, a precious blend of Grappa Monovitigno Merlot, Cabernet and Refosco aged in Limousin and ex-Sherry barriques from a minimum of 3 years to 17 years. A “Fireworks” conclusion!

Finally we suggest you the Sigaro Nonino cocktail by the Mixologist Tony Pesce of the Armani Aqua Restaurant of Hong Kong, prepared with Amaro Nonino Quintessentia® and essence of Toscano cigar.
